Hi Everyone!
I would appreciate an explanation of the purpose and status of:
It seems to me that the former (website) is no longer being actively kept up to date. It also seems to me that there's more up-to-date attention being paid to the BB. Whatever the answer is, that's perfectly fine -- I'd just like to understand how things work.
Also, I'm having trouble learning about upcoming events. The calendar on the website isn't up to date, and I can't find the calendar on the BB. I've been learning about upcoming events via email announcements, but they often come just barely a week before the meeting or event is to take place.
None of this is a complaint. I'm just trying to better understand how things work in a changing world.
Best wishes to all, and happy listening!
Allen

Hi Allen,
Welcome aboard.
Since I created the DCHFG Web site and Forum, I can answer your questions.
The DCHFG web site serves several roles. One is to serve as a landing spot for anyone interested in the activities of DCHFG. So, it is a brochure for potential new members. Also, I post summaries of the monthly meetings that again show to potential new members what we are all about. These also serve as a historical record for the group.
The DCHFG Forum is meant to be a place where members can communicate with each other between meetings.
As to the calendar on the web site and on the forum, I used to post listings on the web calendar including items of interest such as concerts but no one was reading them, and I stopped posting. The calendar on the Forum could provide a similar role. Since John handles all the scheduling of meetings, I would ask John about using the Forum calendar.
If you have more questions about the group, just ask.

Thanks Chris.
I heard back from John relating to upcoming events (at least those in the short term). He said (rough translation) the upcoming events were listed at the end of the last e-mail bulletin, and indeed they are. If that's how it's to be handled, that's fine -- I'm adaptable.
I appreciate your efforts to create and run these informative sites. Thanks a lot!
