Very cool. I may have to pick up one to try on my 1500c. Read article.

The design is certainly striking! I wonder why Ortofon says its only for S-shaped tonearms “the Elite will work with any S-shaped tonearm." I've never heard of phono cartridges designed to work only with S-shaped versus straight tonearms, but maybe this is a know issue.

An S-shaped arm is likely required because there is no offset built in. Mounting it in a straight arm would result in pretty severe misalignment.

Given the overall reviewers comments it reminds me of my Ortofon 2M LVB 250 which has a 5mv output, similar in sound quality, very good and punchy bass which I like with OG rock records Led Z etc.. Chris I have a SL1210GR coming just so I can have my alternate cartridges set up and ready to use instead of taking off my DS 003 when I feel the urge

Yes, these are designed for Technics style S shaped arms. 52mm overhang. Very easy to install and setup. This is just the latest version that's been around for decades. A week ago I scored a new SL1210GR with the $350 discount from B&H Photo. Unfortunately the sale has ended. I still love my 1500c but couldn't resist the SL1210GR at that price. I'll be adding the KAB silicone bath damper and other mods. I will likely be selling my original SL1210 with KAB mods, upgraded bearing and AT MC cartridge. DM if you are interested. I have just been experimenting with some low capacitance cables from World's Best Cables since the the new Technics tables have RCA outputs. I am pretty agnostic about cables but with the low voltage of cartridges I seem to hear greater effect. The cable I got uses Gotham Ultra Pro wire with very good terminations and is reasonably priced. 70 p/f/m capacitance. I think I am hearing just a bit better results with moving magnet cartridges. Only $34. Here is the link.

Chris I should of shopped more for my 1210gr, I bought a 4 month old one for about the same price. Like I said this will be my secondary table for my non optical cartridges I will use my QHW phono pre with it. My main table is the SL1210GAE with the DS Audio 003
