I have a vintage Pioneer Elite PD-75 CD Player that has started with some wobble or light skipping on discs. It's apparent on burned discs and manufactured ones. I am considering taking it to Just Audio in Baltimore and was hoping for some personal experience from Club members. Thank you in advance.

Well, this is where we'll all be soon enough! Any CD player won't last forever -- pretty soon (or maybe now, Emotiva for one dropped their CD player line) nobody is going to be making them, and then how hard will it be to get them repaired?
Let us know how your repair experience goes!

I take it back, I see Emotiva is offering what looks like a pretty high end CD player, so maybe there's hope for people keeping their CDs, for now!

I do not think CD's will be going away for quite a while. I just came back from delivering some equipment to a guy in Richmond. He must have had 4K CD's, no plans to rip or stream. He keeps buying CD from Amazon

Older CD players are getting hard to find parts for. Even the Oppo 93 and 95. Disc drive mechanism replacement parts very scarce. I have been stashing new and lightly used players for 5 yrs. Old players have outdated DACs as well. Many with poor filters. Get a DVD player with digital out and add a DAC for CDs. I used a Panasonic DVD player for a CD transport for 12 years when it finally broke. I have a Panasonic universal player SACD, BD, DVD, etc. that still works, going on 11 years. It is basically a CD/SACD player hooked to a Mytek Brooklyn DAC.

I have a pair of Sony DVD players for over 10 years now DVP NS900 They play SACD and CD with builtin DAC thats seems pretty good. and CD to my external DAC vis SPDIF. They are not used much, I have so few SACD's. With the Back-up Club (Dave Raden's over 10 TB of music on a NAS plus now Qobuz, the Sony's will just sit.

NS900 was a good machine. Music Tech did a DAC/clock mod on those players. If you can find a Pioneer BDP-09FD from 2010 era, this universal player was beefy with a good DAC and a robust transport. This Elite model was $3,000, weighed over 30 pounds, dual power supplies. I still use it as BD player for 1080p and SACD playback via internal DAC. It is also a fantastic CD/hires PCM transport for my Mytek Manhattan II D/A.

Sorry this is a bit late. But you may want to look around a bit for someone whom specializes in CD players. The guys there seem to be more just, "Going through the motions", as far as fixing electronics. A few years back they seemed to be very conscientious and would tell you what was wrong, list the parts used, etc. "Common stuff IMHO", but that has stopped. As a matter of fact, one amp I dropped off there went back three times before I gave up on them. And never once did they address the problem I originally asked them to advise me on before proceeding. "Which was written plainly in the notes dropped off with the amp". One more thing. Make sure you have your receipts in order when you go to pick up gear there also! Sadly I have not found another shop in this region to use. Good luck!
