The December 2023 update to the Oxford English Dictionary lists a new word entry for EQ, verb, transitive: To equalize (the levels of the frequency response) of an audio device; cf. equalize v. II.8b. Also: to adjust the tone of (a musical instrument, recording, etc.) with an equalizer; cf. equalizer n. 2b. Their earliest quotation in this sense is from 1974.
