My system is pretty well set and sounds beautiful to me. I still like to browse the tweaks online and am often tempted to test something new. So I got the itch again, and I thought it was time to try a pair of super tweeters. I chose Townshend. I was ready to listen closely to detect any changes this device might make, even though we can't hear frequencies up to 90 KHz. I thought something was broken during the first few hours. I was hearing distortion that made me walk away for a while. When I returned, things started to settle down. I was surprised at the positive difference in the sound stage, space, and dimension. I am experiencing a realness with live recordings. I have about 50 hours on them, and the sound continues to improve. It's hard to describe, but for me, it's worth the price of this tweak. Interesting. Do these just hook up off the speaker terminals. I guess it has an internal low pass crossover. Do you know the frequency?
You mentioned the sound stage. If you disconnect them does the sound stage collapse?
Just for kicks I wonder if you pointed them towards the rear would you get a pseudo dipole sound?

They do connect to the speaker posts. They do have an adjustable crossover and I'm just leaving them in the #3 position until the first 100 hours of break-in as suggested by the manufacturer. There is an audible difference in sound stage with and without. I have heard that the rear firing position has a positive effect as well and one fellow on a forum is using two firing in both positions.

Since this tweeter has a first order high pass crossover I would suggest caution to not set the crossover point too low. With a first order slope, the tweeter will continue to increase excursion below the crossover point at a rate of 6dB/octave. Depending on the drive level you may have increased distortion below the crossover point.

Where did you get them Lance, I have thought about trying a set for a while Hi Jerry, I bought them directly from Townshend in England. I contacted them via email.
