I've made several diy project amps based on the B&O Icepower amps. Several mainstream audio companies have used these modules over the years. Sometimes with little or no modifications.
I was going through some boxes and discoverd again some Icepower Amps I had left over form a PS Audtio Trio amp upgrade that I did a few years ago. The modules are the Icepower 200 ASC which are about 200 watts at 4 ohms and 100 watts at 8 ohm.
It seemed a shame to let these linger, so I went to my favorite Icepower parts supplier - Ghent Audio.
Ghent Audio has an extensive parts supply to help you create a great amp. They supply everything but the amp module. Critically, they suppply all the prewired connectors that would be hard to assemble individually. It used to be hard to buy the Icepower modules as an indvidual but I see that Parts Express is now selling the entire lineup at attractive prices.
With the Ghent kit it really is almost all just mechanical assembly with the only soldering for the input and spearker connections. Ghent Audio does not supply any instructions but it is pretty easy to track down information on the Net for where the few connections need to go.
There is one issue I have had with the Ghent kit concerning the wiring of both the RCA and XLR Input connector. Ghent supplies a DPDT switch that is supposed to allow you to switch between the RCA and XLR properly. The 200ASC module uses a three wire input of hot, negative, and ground (pins 2,3 and 1). I have searched all over the Net and cannot find a simple wiring diagram to make this switch work as intended. Ghent Audio, for some reason, will not supply a wiring diagram?
After many attempts, I threw in the towel and just wired the XLR input and use a cheap rca female to XLR adapter. This works great.
Intellectually, I would love to find a clear wiring example for this switch at some point!
I am attaching a few pictures.
