I was browsing apps on my new Sony OLED and fired up the Tidal app. Tidal now supports Dolby Atmos which seems to be gaining steam and support from many streamers (e.g. Apple). I looked at the rather interesting list of Atmos titles on Tidal and came upon the recent Tom Petty Wildflowers reissue. Since I have a full surround system with Atmos support, I was curious. Wow, this sounds pretty great. Are we on the cusp of a paradigm shift in music playback? Traditional audiophiles seem sequestered in a Stereo only cul-de-sac. Reminds me of when I used to talk to my British godfather who was a bit of an audiophile and staunch mono advocate. If you have a Dolby Atmos surround sound system, I would be interested if you have tried this. Here's an article about how the Tom Petty Atmos mix came about.
