After a couple of years of playing the photojournalist at some of the audio shows and now taking advantage of this downtime,
I decided to start doing equipment reviews for myself. I also needed to get away from the DIY, tweaking thing and purchase new modern
equipment that the audio public can relate to. So I started assembling my reference system. "Reference" can mean many different things to the audio public.
Reference, in this case, is what I will compare things to. Not the mega-buck ultimate sound system. I will be going after the stuff people like me can afford and be musical.
For me, Audio is about the music not about the equipment.
So for the past year while at the shows I was always looking for what I found musical and affordable.
This is what I have so far:
Speakers: Spatial Audio M3 Sapphires I heard them at CAF, listened very carefully again at Florida Expo, and bought them.
Preamp: The LTA MicroZotl. I have been following LTA ever since they started and they are now producing very musical stuff.
purchasing this preamp was a no brainer
Amp: Elekit TU-8600 300B SET amp. I have followed this company for a few years. I always spend time in Victor's room at the shows.
This is the amp that was reviewed a few months ago and got a glowing report. I did not build this one and its borrowed...for now
9.2 watts is plenty for the Spatials.
I will be getting a music server next month and be making a decision on a DAC, no it will not be a Brooklyn!
website will be up by July 4th
