All -- I have a friend who wants to convert all his LPs to digital, and is looking for equipment suggestions.
Here's the thing -- he has less than 100 albums and it's going to be a one-time operation. After that he will probably never be doing this again!
To be clear, he has a turntable and related electronics, he only needs, I think, an ADC.
What would be a suitable device that would fit these parameters?
Thanks!

Assuming he's using a PC, all you really need is a stereo male RCA to a 3.5mm TRS plug cable. Connect tape out on the preamp to line in on the PC. Download and install Audacity, select the appropriate input and set the bit depth and rate desired and hit record. If he wants to maximize quality without spending a lot he can install a "high end" sound card. I have one if he has a PCI slot open in his PC.
In Audacity you can mark and label the tracks and export to a variety of formats.

That's a pretty good idea! A decent sound card for a pc is probably the most cost effective solution. Thanks!

You can use the sound card built in, or an add-on card for likely better results. As I said, I have a couple that require a PCI slot but produce excellent results.

I'll suggest this idea to my friend and ask if he has a good quality sound card for his PC, and I'll pass along your offer!
Thanks again,
