Hi all,
I'm currently in the process of rebuilding an AR XA table and have a number of vintage cartridges that I would like to try with it. if you used to have an AR TT, XA, or XB and happen to have a headshell lying around that you would like to sell, please let me know. As with the Dual mounts in my previous posting, I would be happy to pay a fair price and pick up. Thanks again.

Hi Larry- I am an Ortofon dealer, and believe they would have a headshell that would work with the AR table. Would you like me to contact them for you? Russ

If you are using the original AR tonearm you will have to look for NOS or used headshells I believe. I don't think anyone makes new ones? Ebay or vinylnirvana.com/ar-turntable-resources/ar-models/ar-xa will probably be your best sources. Of course you could install a new tonearm which would give you more choices.

Russ Hi Russ, Yes, I do believe that Ortofon does have a headshell that will fit - especially if you swap the AR tonearm wand for one from an '80's Technics table (an easy swap). But in this case, I'm trying to keep things as original as I can. Larry

Sorry, but I'm a little confused. Do you want to wait until you exhaust your search for an original headshell, or do you want me to see if Ortofon has one that will work?

Hi Chris, Yes, I can go on eBay or maybe to Vinyl Nirvana (but Dave isn't really doing all that much with AR these days I don't believe). My hope with these posts is that one of our members might have one lying around from a previous table that they owned they would be willing to part with. I know that I have more old audio stuff lying around than I will admit to even under duress. Larry
